I now know that going to a curly hair salon would have made my journey a lot easier, so I want to help you out.


Curly hair salons help women with textured hair achieve their perfect look. They understand how to cut and care for your curls, which means you won’t have to worry about seeing a stylist who you have to talk through doing your hair. Trust me, I have!


So, what sets curly hair salons apart from other salons? They provide a custom service that recognizes curls as an exceptional hair type. They utilize products specifically designed for curly hair, from shampoos and conditioners to styling products, and offer tips and tricks for maintaining your curls and keeping them healthy.


The hardest part about going to a curly hair salon, is finding a curly hair salon. However, we’ve done the hard work for you and found 30 of the best curly hair salons in the U.S.

Capella Salon may be one of the most well known curly hair salon in the country. They are best known for stylist Shai Amiel (the curl doctor). He is one of the rare masters of the curl-by-curl dry haircut. I suggest following him on social media, even if you can't get an appointment. The wisdom he drops is priceless!


A seat in his chair will cost you $350. Other stylists who do the curl-by-curl cut at Capella charge $250. A detangle and cleanse will cost another $100.


Thairapy Salon in South Pasadena, California: Website



Thairapy Salon specializes in naturally curly and wavy hair, drying cutting, pintura & balayage. They also do color correction. They say their mission is to give their clients an educational salon experience and hair they absolutely love.


Their Deva Curl cut & style will cost you $200. Their color treatments start at $175 for a touch-up and go up to $400+ for pintura highlights.


LunaBella in Santa Barbra, California: Website



Christin Brown (CurlFactor) at LunaBella Salon considers herself a curl specialist. She is also a Olaplex global ambassador and specializes in Pintura highlights and the Deva Cut. She believes hair should be cut dry in its natural state. I started following her years ago after discovering her beautiful color creations.


She also travels nationwide providing her services and educating stylists.


The Curly Hair Salon in New Haven, Connecticut: Website



The Curly Hair Salon is all about embracing natural curls. Unlike other beauty salons, they don’t have any hot tools, flat irons or straightening tools.


A cut will cost about $90, color about $200, and a wash and style for about $55. They even do locs.


Midtown Curls in Reno, Nevada: Website




Midtown Curls welcomes all textures. All of the stylists go through extensive training by founder and master stylist, Anna Palotai, in curly hair cutting and advanced color techniques. You can expect an experience uniquely tailored to you with one-on-one coaching by a stylists.


Cuts range from $60 - $150 and color treatments range from $190 - $350.

Renaissance Curls cares for tight to loose curls. They offer professional styling, cutting and color service. However, what I love is their hands-on workshops, where clients are shown how to handle their hair at home. Clients at the workshops even do many sections of their hair themselves.


They offer everything from wash & go with a cut for $145 to cornrows or twists with a cut for $165. The most expensive color is Dimensional Color for $250.


Ringletts in New Orleans. Louisiana: Website



Ringletts is all about curls and even has their own plant based product line called USE Haircare. The salon's founder, Mindy Hobley, has over 35 years in the beauty industry and is an educator of the textured hair movement.


If you are a bride-to-be Ringletts is the place to go! Their bridal and wedding styles are simply beautiful!


Diaspora Salon in Baltimore, Maryland: Website



Diaspora Salon works only with hair in its naturally textured state. So if you’re transitioning, be ready for the Big Chop! The stylists perform curly cuts, color services, twits, rod sets, and highlights. They also offer a press-and-curl, but they say its not a silk press and the hair will still have some texture.


Their curly cuts range from $285 - $155 and color starts at $225


Faith In Curls Salon on Deltona, Florida: Website



Faith in Curls is an exclusive curly hair salon. The owner, Jarely, has a mission to offer an unforgettable experience to her clients, where they feel like their curls are understood. The salon offers curly cuts and styling for wavy, curly and tightly coiled hair.


Their dry curly cut starts at $75 and a full service that starts at $220.


Tres Organic Curls in Brandywine, Maryland: Website



Tres Organic Curls focuses on educating their clients about their curly hair and sending them home with a tailored regimen to maintain healthy hair. Their stylists are certified in curly cuts and curly highlighting techniques.


The 3 hour new client service starts at $350. Prices for color services vary.

Flourish Curl Salon caters to the professional woman with natural hair. They offer natural styling, hands on clinics, products and a styling academy. They also give amazing tips on their social media, so follow them for all the curl advice!

Salon Aficionado dives deep into your routine, while working with you to find the cut and style that works for you. You can even join their curl academy, where you learn everything from cleansing and product application to what to do with your hair when you sleep.


They have three curly cuts, but first time guest will get the customized curly experience starting at $400.

480 Hair Salon believes that education is the key to their success. They are certified in the latest curl services including Deva and Balayage. If you are looking for a full service salon, this is the place. You can even get your nails done!


Their curly cuts vary based on the stylist, but start at $115. If you are looking for color treatments, those start at $98 and go up to $450 for 3D color.

Mahogany and Rose is all about creating a space where their clients feel embraced and celebrated. They cater to people with curly hair and locs. The owner, Camille Janae, focuses on education so her clients have the tools to continue healthy hair care practices in between salon visits. The salon also teach classes for stylists.

Cally's Curls was one of the first naturally curly focused salons in Chicago. The owner, Cally Raduenzel, has 20 years of Deva and dry cutting experience. However, all of the stylists have to specialize in curly hair.


Their cuts range from $56-$135, but their "Rezo Cuts" with a Master Stylist starts at $200. Their color treatments starts at $90 and go up from there depending on what you want.

The owner of the Curly Hair Studio, Atoya Bass, is a curl specialist, but I love that she says "curls are not her passion, people are!" She has a minimal approach to curly hair care and trains stylists in her shape and hydrate method.


The curly experience with Atoya includes the cut, wash and style and will cost about $300.


The Mona Cut in New York, New York: Website



Mona Baltazar is so fabulous with curly hair and scissors that the cut is named after her! The Mona Cut works with your hair’s natural texture and motion. Her goal is to allow her clients to embrace their hair’s natural beauty. She cuts all textures, but specializes in enhancing curly hair.


The Mona Cut (with Mona) will cost about $325 and includes wash, style, dry and refinement.

I first started following the Curly Colorist when I was on my color journey, but her knowledge goes far beyond color! Analis, the owner, is a Master Colorist and stylist specializing in curly hair and natural textures. Most of the color treatments aren't flashy, but are done in a way you would never know the person gets their hair colored. That takes gifted hands!


She is currently booking for Pintura highlights and single process color.
