Low-Maintenance Hairstyles for Back-to-School

It’s that time of year again for students of all ages to go back-to-school. Students and parents alike are preparing for the busy mornings and packed schedules that accompany the academic year. With limited time to get ready, it's essential to have a go-to hairstyle that is both stylish and low-maintenance.

I know many of you have asked yourself, what will I do with my child’s hair for school? Heading back to school doesn't mean sacrificing style for convenience. With these low-maintenance hairstyles, your child can look effortlessly put together while saving time in the morning.

Here’s some quick hairstyles to try:

Freeform ponytails

Freeform ponytails are a great hairstyle for back-to-school. All you do is part the hair into however many sections you want. They can be loose ponytails, puff balls ponytails, braids or twist the ponytails. You can even add beads to the braids or twists. For low maintenance, the style can be worn for a couple weeks if the child wears a scarf at night. In the morning you can add any hair accessories to match their outfit.

Box braids with beads

Box braids with beads is another great low maintenance style for back -to- school. For this style you just part the hair in sections and braid in weave, add beads of choice and secure with a rubber band at the end to hold the beads. Once you have installed this style, your child can wear this for up to two months if well cared for. On school days you can add bows for elementary age or wear down for middle school high school age. As the hair style ages, you can put it up in different styles for longevity.

Press & Curl

The Press & Curl is a favorite back-to-school hairstyle. This style can be achieved by blow drying the hair and pressing the hair with curlers or flat irons. Just make sure the iron isn't too hot and use a heat protectant. This is a hairstyle that can be worn for weeks at a time. Your child won't always have to wear their hair down. This style may be better for an older child who is use to caring for pressed or straightened hair.
